FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CURRENTS -
We are pleased to present CURRENTS, a group exhibition featuring work by Magali A. Cult, Anam Rani, Thomas Spoerndle, Christina Stone, Kate Sherman, Ian Myers, Katie Raudenbush, and Lesny JN Felix, presented by Ashley Frey and Sydney Small and curated with Celeste del Valle.
Invisible forces shape our world. Electrical currents pulse through circuits, ocean currents sculpt the earth, social currents dictate the movement of history. Though often imperceptible, they structure and transform everything they pass through. CURRENTS brings together a selection of emerging New York-based artists whose works materialize these unseen movements—manifesting through cycles of erosion and accumulation, tension and release, transience and permanence.
The works on view harness movement, energy, and flux as generative forces. Material processes mirror shifting states, revealing art’s capacity to act as both conduit and conductor. Through various media, the artists in CURRENTS investigate the interplay between control and surrender. Some works evoke the turbulence of external forces—industrial decay, environmental shifts, the friction of past and present—while others channel the rhythmic flow of organic cycles, ancestral echoes, and ritual gestures.
These movements—whether perceptible or imperceptible—suggest a larger network of interconnectivity in which energy is never static, but continuously transferred, repurposed, and renewed. The exhibition invites viewers to attune themselves to the unseen forces that shape their surroundings, revealing the currents that move within and between us.
Join us for a special preview of CURRENTS on Sunday, March 16, 2025, from 2:00-7:00 PM, followed by the opening reception on Monday, March 17, 2025, from 4:00-7:00 PM. The exhibition will be on view by appointment from March 18 – April 13, 2025.
